Last year ( 2012) I registered with FindaBabysitter.com. I did eventually find a solution to my childcare but not through this website. However, I gave it a go and thought nothing more of it. Several months passed and then I noticed that since June 2013 ( presumably a year after I originally registered) that £25 was being taken out of my account on a monthly basis. A total of £150 has been deducted over 6 months. My bank discovered this was being done through a process called "auto renewal". This is not a direct debit and you have to contact the company to stop it. My bank is not impressed with this practice by companies that have credit/debit card details and use it to deduct sums of money from client's accounts without notifying them. Citizens Advice similarly were concerned and were passing details of my case to Trading Standards. My bank gave me a telephone number to ring but all I got was an email address. Using the email address the response was my money could not be refunded but they would cease taking anything further from my account ( which I will check!!). They would not give me the name of a manager I could speak to about this. My understanding is that whilst this practice is within the letter of the current law ask yourself would a reputable company do this? I have not used this website since September 2012. They must know this and yet have taken £25 /month from my account. If I had not noticed the deductions when I did FindaBabysitter.com would have charged me £300 for a web-based childcare service I was not using and had not used for a year. The email communication from the company offered me "free access" for 1 year to their website. I have no need of this service as evidence by my non-use and it adds insult to injury to call it "free" when they have £150 of my money. Is this fair, honest and open trading providing value for money. I think not!

In summary, I would not recommend Find A Babysitter to a friend.
